Leap of Faith Capital Appeal                                                                     March 11/12 to April 8/9, 2017

Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2a

We Are Running God’s Race

Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church has led an energetic life. Given the various trials at the starting line, we have made great strides in nearly a decade. Currently, our congregation has five worship services. As we run the race that God has set before us, worship equips us to serve our members and our communities well into the future. Our financial situation is the best it’s been since the race began. We are ready to keep pace with God’s call to enter into our future boldly.

What Is Next in This Race?

Leap of Faith is the first capital appeal for Spirit of Grace. It will provide our congregation with the funds we need to confidently and faithfully take our next steps forward. The goal of Leap of Faith is that  members and friends of Spirit of Grace will generously give an additional $497,500 over the next three years to provide furnishings for the new South Campus, refurbish the North Campus, and provide funds to bring the ministry spending plan closer to a ‘balanced’ finish line.

What Will We Be Doing at the South Campus?

We will have a new facility for our South Campus this fall. The target dedication day is Reformation Sunday on this 500 Anniversary of the Reformation. WOW! As with all new facilities, ours will need furnishings. $175,000 of the funds given will provide the remaining seating, an A/V system with solutions for the hearing impaired, children’s area and fellowship corner plus repairs to stained glass windows. This will make a new building into a new sanctuary for our congregation and to the glory of God.

What Will We Be Doing at the North Campus?

The North Campus has several major needs. Our additional giving will provide for a new roof, new

flooring, and other modern renovations throughout the church including the kitchen, a new A/V system with similar solutions for the hearing impaired and nursery update. As every homeowner knows, buildings need attention from time-to-time to keep them functioning properly. Our church home is no exception. Approx-imately $247,500 of the money given will provide for the needs of the North Campus.

What about Our Ongoing Ministry?

Our congregation’s annual ministry spending plan is much more sustainable than it has ever been. With additional faithful giving, we nearly be able to balance income with the engaging ministry for all ages that we know our congregation and our communities need. $75,000 of the money given will provide funds to help us be the grace place in our life together in Christ.

What Are the Goals of Leap of Faith?

One goal of Leap of Faith is that this will be a time of spiritual growth for every member and friend of Spirit of Grace. This is a goal of all that we do together, and this appeal is no exception. A second goal of Leap of Faith is that everyone makes a financial commitment to the appeal. We are blessed in different ways. Some will be able to make larger financial commitments, others smaller, but we hope that everyone will make a commitment. All of our commitments joined together will make it possible to reach the third goal.

The third important goal of the appeal is that we reach our financial goal of $497,500. To do this, members and friends of the congregation will need to make gifts over the three year giving period of the appeal similar to the following:

1 gift of $45,000 ($15,000 per year)

1 gift of $30,000 ($10,000 per year)

2 gifts of $21,000 ($7,000 per year)

3 gifts of $18,000 ($6,000 per year)

5 gifts of $15,000 ($5,000 per year)

5 gifts of $12,000 ($4,000 per year)

6 gifts of $9,000 ($3,000 per year)

7 gifts of $7,200 ($200 per month)

7 gifts of $5,400 ($150 per month)

10 gifts of $3,600 ($100 per month)

12 gifts of $1,800 ($50 per month)

15 gifts of $1,560 ($10 per week)

Many gifts of less than $10 per week

All giving to Leap of Faith is over and above regular giving to Spirit of Grace.

How Can I Give?

Some people will give to Leap of Faith out of their regular income. Intentional gifts made week after week over three years can add up to a significant amount. Others will give gifts of accumulated assets, like stocks or the cash value of an insurance policy that is no longer needed. Gifts of such assets can result in a  wonderful gift to Spirit of Grace that also brings a significant tax advantage to the donor. Others will name Spirit of Grace in their will. If you haven’t yet named Spirit of Grace in your estate plan, this might be the time you will want to do that. The church council has determined that all new funds promised through estate plans will be considered a gift to Leap of Faith. If you are interested in making a stock gift, or in naming Spirit of Grace in your estate plan, please contact Pastor Rita.
